MLS is known for hosting domestic league competitions during FIFA’s international windows. They don’t comply with FIFA’s international windows and host league games during intenational break. Because of this, the players who need be deployed for the duty of the national team used to be in trouble.

But now MLS can change that rule. After the arrival of Argentinian star Lionel Messi, MLS is thinking of changing the rules, according to various sports media.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, MLS is on the verge of changing the rules, especially due to the growing presence of elite players like Lionel Messi in the league.

Miami coach Tata Martino has said some time back that this rule may change from the upcoming season. He said, “This matter is being analyzed. For next year it is likely to happen.”

Argentina will be playing World Cup qualifiers during the upcoming international break. Argentina will face Ecuador and Bolivia in the first two matches of the World Cup qualifiers. Messi will return to Argentina for two matches. At the same time, Miami will play games under the Major Soccer League. Therefore, Messi will not be able to play for Miami.
